Catching up on some back issues I hadn't read yet and really like this pearl about the Crab Nebula observation seemingly documented in Chaco. I have read some interesting archaeological observations about Chaco Canyon and its creators but had not read about this. If you want to learn more about the "Anasazi" culture a great book is Craig Childs' House of Rain. He tracks the civilization and their movement around the southwest - starting in Chaco Canyon.
Yes - I found that bit about Chaco Canyon out reading a sidebar in a section on nebulae. Have had the book for years, but don't think I'd ever done more than just skim a bit of it. I thought it was interesting - and the Childs book sounds. interesting. That part of history is something I know. very, very little about. Thanks!
😂 Sartre’s hilarious. If you weren’t having a bad day before you started reading... Look forward to checking out Moon and fascinating re nebula. Thanks Bryan. 👏
I thought it was a great video, too - really inspired. And I tried to identify which films the various clips were from, but soon realised my knowledge of film noir is rather limited! I'd love to visit Chaco Canyon - that's a part of the States I've yet to visit.
I sent it to a buddy who is really into Noir and he said he recognizes a lot of the movies. Really cool. We’ve potted around a lot of the Southwest and Chaco Canyon is among the coolest, in part because it is available with so little of the interpretive overlay: you just get to experience the remnants on this lost civilization. Highly recommended (and hit the Bisti Badlands too while you’re in the neighborhood).

Excellent collection of things combined in a way that makes you appreciate life from a birds eye view. Thanks

Love a bit of Sartre - he tends to put it all into perspective! Let me know what you think of Moon. Thanks!
“In the Shadow” was fantastic! And I enjoyed the Chacoans view on the Crab Nebula. We’re not far from Chaco Canyon now, it’s a really cool place.
