This brings back some great memories. I used to get up at 7:00 am every Saturday and watch this.

Good times :)

Getting up early to watch a TV show ... wow. That takes me back. I was certainly an early riser to see specific shows - I vaguely remember getting up early to watch Wonder Works (?) on PBS - but Saturday mornings were gold. Super Friends, Loony Tunes, Scooby Doo ... great stuff. Until Scrappy Doo was added. Anyway, glad to bring back great memories - and glad to hear from you, too. I miss The Fyve Spot! Hope you're well.

Yup, I watched it when I was a kid, at least the first few years. But it didn’t stick: I’ve never liked superhero stuff, nor really animation. But that maze video: now that’s my jam.

I'm not into superhero stuff, either - nor animation or comics. But as a kid when there was little on tv on a Saturday, it filled a need. Yeah - the maze video was great!

I always thought Zan got ripped off. Jayna can turn into any animal but he can only transform into a form of water? Is that even a superpower? (Fun post. And a fantastic playlist! ‘73 was a good year for music)

Glad you liked the post and playlist! And, yes, there was nothing equitable about the Wonder Twins' powers ... I vaguely remember her turning into an eagle and carry him as a pail of water or something: 'form of ... a pail of water.' Great. Yawn.

It's funny, actually, how little I remember about the Super Friends TV show although I'm absolutely familiar with the concept as a life long DC Comics fan. Though I remember the Wonder Twins more so than the original teen sidekicks.

If I recall correctly, in the recent Supergirl live action series, Kara refers to her allies and friends as the Super Friends.

It was a Saturday go-to for me (and my brother) throughout the 70s - though I don't think I saw the first series more than a couple of times as they'd been replaced by the more action-packed later incarnations. Those also went from an hour-long single episode to ones that had four segments of different stories.

Not sure about Supergirl, but in Bart's Comet, the nerds who's club Bart becomes an honorary member of when he discovers a comet call themselves the Super Friends.
