I’ll also respond to The Thought. I love it for selfish reasons, as I tend to think in jokes and rarely skip an opportunity to add them into otherwise serious writing or conversations, whether they belong or not. Now I’ll just think of these writings and impulses as ‘serious and good philosophical work.’

Also - love that ABC tune. And Thomas Dolby is an all-time fave. Not sure if this was before your time at Earworms and Song Loops, but I wrote a piece on TD’s “Hyperactive” that you may enjoy. I’ll take the paywall off for ya!

Thanks Bryan for the shoutout! I didn’t get a chance to read this until my insomnia allowed me some “free” time.:) I love the Wang Chung story so much. That is a special kind of earworm. Me and a friend were obsessed with both the movie and song “To Live and Die in LA” and I still argue that Wang Chung were underrated.

I read a few juggalos articles over the years, but I started this one (and will finish in the morning) and can tell it’s a must read. I want to say there was a This American Life episode about a woman who was a Juggalo. Thanks for the share! (I’m not sure if it should be capitalized or not. )

Top 5 tracks of the 80s is brutal. Knowing I’m leaving off some favorites I’ll go with Let’s Go Crazy (Prince), Photograph (Def Leppard), Billie Jean (MJ), Pride (in the Name of Love) (U2), and Sweet Child o’ Mine (Guns & Roses). I’d struggle narrowing it down to a top 50!

Wow. All five of those tracks could have/should have been on my list. Despite my 'challenge', I don't think it's possible to actually do a Top 5 of the 80s without causing a panic attack, but saying that .... Each one of your tracks has a special place in my memory - what a time for music. I know things are different today, but I do feel the kids (my kids - and they listen to music all the time) just don't connect to music as much as we did. Or maybe that's just me feeling old .... Thanks for the suggestions - I've got a new playlist going now!

The Bus is a nutritious read where it feels like every item is a Cracker Jack prize. And not the chintzy kind of fake tattoos or plastic thimbles -- but the original quality items like baseball cards, metal whistles, and miniature books. Keep up the great work.

Thank you! I love the Cracker Jack analogy - I'd like to think you might just find a Coup de Ville ...
