I went many years without listening to Nick Cave. While on a Tom Waits binge, Cave's music kept making appearances on the playlist. And suddenly a new obsession was born.

Thanks for covering this.

Really glad you liked it. For me listening to Cave took me into Waits and, in fact, a bit deeper into Dylan. There's nothing quite like him.

I’ll have to watch that documentary! My dad was in the Navy and participated in Operation Greenhouse which tested nuclear weapons in the Marshall Islands in the late 40s-to early 50s. He would always tell stories about watching the mushroom clouds and how they’d have to wash the ships down with seawater after each blast to rid it of radioactive dust.

That's an amazing story! When I chose that documentary, I never thought there'd be an actual connection to a Bus Rider! Let me know what you think of it.

The proposition is one of the Greatest movies of all time.

Absolutely. Top 10 ever, probably. It's haunting in a way few films are.

Nick Cave is one of those artists I wanted to like, but could never really get into (with the exception of “Into My Arms”) ... I’ll use your playlist to try again.

He's not easy to get into - for me it just happened to be the right time and place when I started listening to him. Plus, his catalogue then was smaller so it was easy to really listen to the albums. I think four of the five songs on the playlist might help you get into him - and when you do, then crank 'Papa Won't Leave You, Henry ...' up to 11. It's shattering. Let me know what you think.
