Fascinating story about Indian yellow. I hadn't heard that Wilde quote before: very profound, as were many of his aphorisms

I'm reading Wilde's An Ideal Husband (for the first time) at the moment as I have to teach it soon. He's underestimated in many ways - Dorian Gray and Being Earnest rightly get the attention - but (like so many) he was a prolific writer who left profound nuggets all over. Glad you liked the quote! Always good to find a new one!

I haven't read 'Husband '. Are you familiar with Wilde's aphorisms for the young? My favourite, which I often cited to my students, is In examinations the foolish ask questions that the wise cannot answer

I really enjoyed today's trip on The Bus, Bryan! Colour is so interesting - nice to find out more about Indian Yellow. I remember reading Victoria Finlay's book when it came out - I was fascinated.

Now, why am I suddenly craving curry...?!

I love colour - when I was a child I loved looking at the racks of sewing threads all arranged by colour. The different shades of greens and blues ... so much better than my 8 colour Crayola crayons. And then, one day ... the 64 colour box appeared (with its own built in sharpener, which only enhanced its desirability) and it was on. Really glad you liked the trip!
