Love that Motels tune. Your Brevard calendar hits the highlights but left out 'groups of summer campers and river tubers try to finish Dolly's ice cream cones before the goods melt'. I am so ready for Chanterelle season!
The playlist was fun - I especially liked finding the Motels song. That brought back some early 80s memories. Imagine an equivalent summer calendar for Brevard ... 'Florida tourists enter in large cars' ... 'Children try to swim in pool between thunderclaps' ... 'Humid outside while a/c freezes inside' ... 'Chanterelles are ready for the briefest moment'. Actually, that one sounds good!
I love the idea of dividing the calendar into micro seasons. It seems to me our seasons here in the Midwest are shifting. It stays cooler later into the summer, and stays warmer later into the fall. Currently, I feel like we’re just coming out of the season “winter got drunk and stumbled into summer.” Ok, so it’s not exactly poetic, but it’s accurate.
Yes - and back when Ecusta was still making paper, there was the 'shift of winds bring smell of sulfur' ...

'Winter got drunk and stumbled into summer' - great line, but that's a LONG winter! Especially as it bulldozed straight through Spring!
